The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) is preparing the launch of a bond emission, intended for the pension funds; the emission is due to be launched at the end of March. This was announced by the BDB Executive Director Angel Gekov during the Conference “Infrastructure and Services in the WSaS Sector”, organized by the Centre for infrastructure and energy, public and communal services Uconomics.
The bond emission shall be used to fund infrastructure, renewable energy sources and waste processing projects. According to Gekov the Bank is ready to consult, to finance directly or to organize the fnding of infrastructural projects, including such in the WSaS sector through different techniques and financial schemes, including bond emissions.
BDB plans to emit low-risk bonds with comparatively high profitability. The structuring of such a program shall provide mechanisms for the the funding of wide scope of infrastructural projects.
The convention gathered representatives of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation, the Regional Inspectorate of Enviroment and Waters, EBRD, WSaS companies and others. The conference included discussions and analyses of topics, related to WSaS funding, its legal and regulative framework as well as the design and construction of water treatment plants.
