Bulgarian Development Bank was presented the "Zlatna Martenitsa" /Golden Martenitsa/ award by the Made in Bulgaria Alliance. The prestigious award is given for direct and indirect funding of small and medium enterprises, export funding and the EU structural funds financing.
The Minister of Economy and Energy Mr. Petar Dimitrov presented the award to the BDB Executive Director Mr. Dimitar Dimitrov. The annual award is presented by the Made in Bulgaria Alliance for 15th time in a row, to companies and institutions, successfully supporting the state economy.
It is an honour and pleasure for me to accept this prize. It is another proof that the Bulgarian Development Bank was established at the right place in the right time. The Bank represents a strategic decision of the State, at the same time being an anti-crisis institution. I believe that it will have substantial contribution to soften the effect of the world financial crisis and we shall keep working hard in that direction, Dimitar Dimitrov stated.
So far the Bank has granted 230 millions Leva to commercial banks, the funds being intended for small and medium enterprises. Gradual capitalisation of BDB with a total of 500 millions Leva started at the end of 2009. This is a part of the Governmental Plan for Economic Stability and Growth for 2009. The last part of the capital increase is expected to be received by the end of March 2009.
